Protocols and Cabling

A protocol is a set of rules that controls the communications between computers on a network. In order for two computers to function together in the same network, they must speak the same language. As an example, for two person to work together they first must speak in one language that each other can understand. The Open Systems Interconnection defines seven layers of networking protocols but they can be simplified into four layers. They are :
  1. Ethernet (Physical/Data Link Layers)
  2. IP/IPX (Network Layer)
  3. TCP/SPX (Transport Layer)
  4. HTTP, FTP, Telnet, SMTP, and DNS(combined Session/Presentation/Application Layers)

Networking Equipment

Networking equipment refers to devices conducting the use of a computer network. This includes gateways, routers, network bridges, switches, hubs, and also repeaters.

List Of Networking Equipment :

1. Gateway : Device placed at a network node for interfacing other network that uses different protocol.
2. Router : Device that determine the next network point. Not the same as gateway, router cannot interface different protocols.
3. Bridge : A devie that connects multiple network segments.
4. Switch : A device that allocates traffic from one network segment to certain lines.
5. Hub : Connects multiple Ethernet segments together making them act as one single segment.
6. Repeater : Device used to amplify digital signal.

Computer Networking

computer network or simply can be referred as a network, is a collection of hardware components and computers interconnected by communication channels. that communication channels allow sharing of resources and information.Where at least one process in one device is able to send or even receive data to or from at least one process residing. 

Networks may be classified according to a wide variety of characteristics such as the medium used to transport the data, the communications protocol used, the scale, topology and also the scope.

What Do We Actually Learn

Throughout the learning in Telecommunication class, we learn a lot. As an example, I don't know if my point of view is any of the same with anyone else, but from this class, I only realize that a computer network doesn't necessarily needs an internet connection. Maybe I was being to easy by thinking that having a 'net' in network simply means that it needs an inter'net' connection. What am I trying to say actually.
 
Whatever it is, I definitely have a little bit understanding about it. However, there are also some other things that we, the technology illiterate might not have heard about it. Such things like, Transmission timing, Directions of Data Transmission, and from that there are branches of them. There are Simplex, Duplex, Half Duplex, and also Full Duplex.
Well, I better not say anymore else, or I will be making new irrelevant facts about computer.

Introduction

What a lame title. For months after having a mental breakdown for not having any idea to write in my own blog, I created a new blog. It is not my idea and it is not on my own free will. There is one special force that lies behind the making of this new blog.
          
HAHA. It is not the special force from Star Wars of course. Let’s just get to the point. This is my assignment and I am not sure whether to use English or Malay or maybe both but I don’t think I can use both and since I am a TESL student, of course I have to use English laa. That’s what my sister would say. Typical her.
          
We are supposed to write something that we learned in Telecommunication and Networking classes and what we get and what we can implement and apply from it. Ya, I know the name of the subject is long enough, it can make your tongue twist everytime you want to tell other people that you are taking Telecommunication and Networking.
          
Okay, I think I am done already. This is not my first official post for my assignment. This is just a lame introduction.
